Comments

When visitors leave comments on the website, we collect the data displayed in the comment form as well as the visitor’s IP address and the browser’s user agent string to support spam detection.

An anonymized string (also called a hash) created from your email address may be provided to the Gravatar service to determine if you are using it. You can find the Gravatar service’s privacy policy here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. Once your comment has been approved, your profile picture will be publicly visible in the context of your comment.

Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS). Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Cookies

If you leave a comment on our website, you can consent to the storage of your name, e-mail address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to enter your details again if you leave another comment. These cookies have a shelf life of one year.

When you visit our login page, we set a temporary cookie to determine whether your browser accepts cookies. This cookie does not contain any personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, we also set up several cookies to store your login information and your screen display options. Login cookies are valid for two days and cookies for screen options are valid for one year. If you select “Stay logged in”, your login will remain active for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

When you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie is stored in your browser. This cookie does not contain any personal data and only indicates the post ID of the article you have just edited. It expires after 1 day.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this website may contain embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in exactly the same way as if the visitor had visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Who we share data with.

If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email.

How long data is stored

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata will be retained indefinitely. This allows us to automatically recognize and approve follow-up comments instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users who register on our website (if any), we also store the personal data they provide in their user profile. All users can view, edit or delete their personal data at any time (except that they cannot change their user name). Website administrators can also view and edit this information.

What rights you have to your data

If you have an account on this website or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we delete all personal data that we have stored about you. This does not apply to data that we are obliged to store for administrative, legal or security reasons.

Where we send your data

Visitor comments can be checked by an automated spam detection service.
